Kill Bill

Kill Bill

The title sequence of kill Bill is all about the use of enigma as your asking questions of whats happening and whats going to happen next this then makes the audience want to carry on watching the film as they want these questions answered. The sound of her breathing at the beginning where we can just see black makes us wonder what is going on it sounds like it may be sexual and then this gives the audience a sense of shock when they see her face covered in blood. The close up of the women lets you know she is significant to the film. This also makes the audience feel sympathy for the women as you can see her facial expression and how much her face is damaged. It shows her wearing a wedding vale which also brings up questions of who she was getting married to and how she got into this state on her wedding day. The non diegetic music sets a tense atmosphere and suggest that there is violence involved in this film. The shot of the outline of the women also brings up questions of is she dead, it also makes her look very vulnerable.

This Is England

This is England

This title sequence introduces the scenery and portrays a typical British council flat, whilst reinforcing the genre of a gritty, coming of age drama. The mid shot of three male characters represents the age group that the film is based around. The graffiti shown behind them on the wall suggests teenage rebellion. The quality of the focus is weak, perhaps to create a mysterious atmosphere and build the audience's curiosity. The letters are white, which is seen as a typical British color and could be in reference to the Union Jack. Again, this reinforces the British culture. The small digits on the screen are said to be representative of the number of soldiers that have died. The third shot shows people in a party environment. The green lighting effect reinforces excitement and a live rock band is a stereo-typically a British trait. The characters show enthusiasm and portray lively animalistic personalities. One shot shows a close up of a couple kissing this reinforces a strong sense of passion and romance. It provides us to know that relationships will be a key aspect of the film. The fact that they used a close up shot could suggest that these particular characters may have significance throughout the film. The shot displaying three men holding the British flag is at a low-angle this reinforces their power and status. The Union Jack emphasizes the British culture. This close up shot of a child watching television establishes what year the film is shot in.  The last shot displays numerous army soldiers in a deserted environment. This could reinforce the fact that the audience will be visioning a captivating story-line.

Catch Me If You Can

Catch me if you can

This title sequence I think is very effective as it is very different to other films. It is all done in animation and uses clever ways to link the titles into the animations  it also gives you an idea about what the film is about. It uses lots of blue color's which could may appeal to a male audience. It also suggests that this film is more upper class as there all dressed in smart clothes. The non diegetic sound the music playing over the title sequence creates a mood of mystery but it is also quite cheerful music this suggest that the film will include happiness yet a sense of mystery involved. There use of travel such as the planes and airport animations included in the film link with running away from something and someone which also reflects with the title. When he gets away from all the travel areas it shows him living a classy life and shows that if no one catches him he will be living the high life. There also lots of women shown in the title sequence so you can tell it will appeal to the male gaze. It also shows the animation going into different identity's suggesting he does this throughout the film. The animation of the man who is always one step behind him portrays that maybe they catch up with him and that a detective is looking for him and this reflects with the detective music used.
